 Camano Island Fire and Rescue is currently establishing an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter. This position requires FireTEAM, valid NTN CPAT, and candidate PHQ which can be accessed through your candidate account. It also requires a CIFR Application which can be requested directly from CIFR.  All testing and application materials must be completed and submitted by August 16, 2019.

District Information:
Camano Island Fire and Rescue serves the community of Camano Island with fire protection, emergency medical (ALS Transport), and technical rescue services.  Our team consists of 2 chief officers, twenty-four career firefighters, sixteen part-time firefighters, fifteen volunteer firefighters, three administrative staff, and two maintenance positions all governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners.  We operate out of four stations, an administration office, and a maintenance facility.  We respond to over 2000 calls per year, approximately 65% of which are EMS.

Camano Island is located approximately 45 minutes north of Everett, WA and is connected to the mainland via a bridge.

Job Requirements

Age: 21

US Citizen: Yes

High School Grad/GED: Yes

Valid WASHINGTON State Drivers License: Yes

Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes

Driving Disqualifiers:
Must possess a valid Washington State driver license without any record of suspension or revocation in any state. Candidate must be insurable under Camano Island Fire and Rescue insurance policy.

Background Investigation and Criminal Record Check:

Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers:
Must not have had any felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories.

Medical Examination:
Must be able to complete and pass an entry level medical examination, drug test, and psychological test.

 Minimum Qualifications to Apply:

  • IFSAC Firefighter I Certification, including Hazardous Materials Operations ICS 100 and 700 Certification
  • Washington State EMT Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year experience as a Firefighter in a fire based EMS system
  • Snohomish County EMS protocol experience
  • Part-time or volunteer firefighter experience with Camano Island Fire and Rescue
  • IFSAC Firefighter II Certification

Additional Information:

This list is being established to fill either a 9-hour daytime or a 24-hour shift position.

Preference will be given to current CIFR members and lateral entry applicants that are currently employed as a firefighter in a fire department.

Each candidate must also complete the mandatory application packet, available at the District website, or the Administration Office located at 811 N Sunrise Blvd, Camano Island, WA. Submit a resume with your application, a copy of your Driver’s License and copies of your certifications to the Administration Office by the end of the application period. Top candidates will be invited to interview with the Fire Chief August 29, 2019, for final section and placement on the eligibility list.
The District may choose to utilize the eligibility list for up to one (1) years.
