Camano Island Fire & Rescue Board of Fire Commissioners accept Fire Chief’s resignation
Camano Island – On Monday, January 14, 2019, The Board of Fire Commissioners for Camano Island Fire & Rescue formally accepted Chief Michael Schick’s resignation. Citing personal and professional reasons, Chief Schick and his wife are looking forward to a change in location and to pursue other employment opportunities within the fire service. Chief Schick will remain with CIFR through September 2, 2019, and aid in the transition of the new fire chief once one has been named.
Long-time CIFR Assistant Chief, Craig Helgeland, will fill the interim role as Acting Chief.
The Camano Island community can rest assured that that the change in leadership will not impact the services it expects and needs.
Updates and specifics of the process to hire the next fire chief will be released as information is available
