A number of state and federal agencies sponsor a wide range of individual and group training courses. These courses come in a variety of formats including on-line self study and traditional classroom instruction. Most courses are offered free of charge to qualified students. Some courses are eligible for college credit.
INCIDENT COMMAND SYSTEM - ICS Training:
ICS 300. Stanwood Camano Fire will host an ICS 300 class on 24 and 25 March, at the Stanwood Fire Station (Station 99). Attendance both days is required. The Skagit Co. DEM will offer an ICS 300 class on 5 and 6 March at the DEM office/ 911 Center, 2911 E. College Way, Ste B, Mount Vernon, WA 98273

Stanwood and Camano Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Training:
The next EOC volunteer meeting will be scheduled after the New Year. Whn the date is determined it will be posted here. There is a continuing need for persons to help staff the Stanwood or Camano Island EOCs during activations - No previous experience is necessary. The CERT class scheduled to start on 13 October has been cancelled. The cancellation was necessary due to the low number of applications received.

"Map Your Neighborhood" Facilitator's Course
Neighborhoods prepared for emergencies and disasters save lives and property. Learn the 9 steps to take immediately following a disaster, develop a nieghborhood skills and equipment inventory, identify areas of concern in your neighborhood, plan for neighbors that need extra help.
